VIOLENCE ACROSS PAKISTAN AFTER BHUTTO’S ASSASSINATION

 benazir.gif                                                    According to the foreign    media,  violence commenced  in several cities in Pakistan soon after the brutal assassination of Pakistan former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto. It is reported that enraged people gathered into the main cities like Rawalpindi, Karachchi, and Lakarna attacking the vehicles belonging to Police and armed forces. In addition to that several military vehicles and military posts were set on fire by them.

Mrs.Benazir Bhutto(54) -the first woman Prime Minister of Pakistan was brutally assassinated on 27th December 2007 in Rawalpindi by a group of unidentified killers while she was leaving after addressing an election rally.  “Two shots were fired at her head & neck before the suicide bomber blew him up” her security advisor confirmed.

Soon after the incidents she was taken to the Rawalpindi General Hospital with bleeding injuries and she succumbed to her injuries on admission to the hospital. Nearly 22 people were killed and another 30 people were injured due to the blast.

Nawash Sheriff - a former Prime Minister of Pakistan rushed to the Rawalpindi hospital on receipt of the information that Mrs.Bhutto was shot said that the Pakistan Govt. should be responsible and accountable for this assassination. He further said under these circumstances having an election is meaningless and therefore he decided to boycott the election schedule to be held on 8th January 2008.

Meanwhile, Pakistan President Musharraf has condemned the killing of Mrs.Bhutto and declared three days mourning period. Latest reports says, that remains of Mrs.Bhutto  will be buried in Lakarna next to her father’s grave.

Many countries including of UK, USA, India, Sri Lanka, Australia, Afganistan and France already condemned the assassination of Mrs.Bhutto together with UN General Secretary.

Mrs.Benazir Bhutto was born in 1953 and entered into active politics after his father - former Pakistan PM Zulficar Ali Bhutto  was hung by former Pakistan military leader Zia - ul -huck. She held the office of Prime Minister of Pakistan twice in 1988 and 1990. Mrs.Bhutto made a come back to Pakistan on 18th October 2007 after several years self exiled and on the same day another suicide bomb attack was carried out on her motor car parade killing 136 people and wounding more than 125 civilians.
