Cabinet unanimously sanctioned the abrogation of CFA (Cease Fire Agreement) today acting upon a request made by Prime Minister Rathnasiri Wickramanayake. The CFA singed on 22nd February 2002 between the then Prime Minister Ranil Wickramasinghe and V.Prabakaran for and on behalf of the Government of Sri Lanka and LTTE respectively , has been observed unilaterally by the Government of Sri Lanka (GOSL). LTTE has been continuing to violate the CFA from the day it was singed, by killing many military personnel and civilians in countless incidents up to this date.
