MP ANURA BANDARANAYAKE PASSED AWAY.

mp-anura-bandaranayake.jpg Gampaha district SLFP MP & former Minister of National Heritage Anura Priyadarshana Bandaranayake has passed away today at his official residence - Visumpaya  in Colombo after a brief illness. At the time of his death he was 59 years.

He was the only son of late Prime Minister Mr. S.W.R.D.Bandaranayake and Prime Minister Mrs.Sirimavo Bandaranayake. Also he was the younger brother of former President Chandrika Bandaranayake and Ms.Sunethra Bandaranayake.

I learn with deep sorrow the passing of Anura Bandaranayake, former speaker of the House of Representatives. During my very brief association with him in Costa Rica in 1997, I found him to be an honorable politician with a very charming personality who was dedicated to improve the quality of life of Sri Lankans.
May he attain NIBBANA.

If not for the name he is an insignificant politician who had done nothing of significance in his entire political life.
