While addressing a media conference today in Colombo JHU Policy maker and Minister of Environmental and Natural Resources Patali Champika Ranawaka said that two out of five UNP members elected to Eastern Province Council from Trincomalee district at the recently concluded election are having direct links with LTTE.
The above media conference was commenced at 2.00pm at Omega Inn Hotel in Wellawatta, Colombo 6 and it was attended by JHU leader Ven.Ellawala Medhananda Thero, JHU parliamentary group leader Ven.Athuraliye Rathana Thero, Minister Champika Ranawaka and JHU legal advisor Udaya Prabath Gammanpila.
Minister further said it is revealed that four western foreign mission in Sri Lanka has spent billions of rupees through a businessman based in Colombo to defeat UPFA from EPC election and since they couldn’t achieve their goal, said foreign missions are now issuing various statements criticizing the EPC election “as one of the most corrupted election in the history of Sri Lanka.”
Meanwhile, JHU leader Ven.Ellawala Medhananda Thero said at today’s press conference that their party is thoroughly against of handing over any types of power to the respective provincial councils which relates to Lands and Police force. However, Ven.Medhananda Thero said still the Govt. hasn’t taken any policy decision to hand over such powers to the provincial councils.
