National Freedom Front headed by former JVP Propaganda Secretary MP Wimal Weerawansa was inaugurated today at BMICH around 9.30am with a participation of large gathering. Former Chief Justice P.Wanasundera, Prof. Upali Jayasekara, Prof. Walter Marasinghe, PNM Chairman Dr.Gunadasa Amarasekara, Cyril Wickramage, Rogger Senavirathna, Ms.Renuka Balasuriya, Somarathna Balasuriya and many other former JVP members who left the party during the last four decades were invited to the above ceremony.
NFF National Organizer kamal Deshapriya has delivered the welcome address and NFF General Secretary MP Nandana Gunathilaka has tabled the party manifesto.
While addressing the gathering NFF Chairman Wimal Weerawansa said that they have no intention to be an alternative for JVP, but to be an alternative to the “national task” which was left alone by JVP during the last 43 years. Further he said JVP was unable to be the “third force” for the needy people in this country and NFF will fulfill that requirement within next ten years.
“We are dead against of UNP & UPFA. We have already identified our common enemies and will march forward to eliminate them from our motherland. Corruption and all types of terrorism must be defeated at any cost to deliver the prosperity and long lasting peace to our country” NFF Chairman further added.
It is also announced that they have a politburo comprising of 15 members’ including few former veteran JVP members. MP Piyasiri Wijenayake and MP Jayantha Samaraweera were appointed as the in-charge of Trade Union Affairs and NFF Propaganda Secretary respectively.
