“Nelum Pokuna” Theater declared open by President Rajapaksha

Nelum Pokuna Mahinda Rajapaksha performing Art Theater constructed at a cost of Rs.3000 million was declared open by the Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksha this evening in Colombo 7.

Ms.Sang Chiang, Vice President of Chinese Republican Committee, Sri Lankan Prime Minister D.M.Jayarathna, Minister of Cultural Affairs T.B.Ekanayake and parliamentarians and many local and foreign distinguished invitees participated at the opening ceremony held this evening.

The above theater built very much similar to the lotus pond in Polonnaruwa and its  consists of a movable stage, a state-of-art sound system, seating capacity for 1,288 spectators, a fully equipped library, rehearsal halls and parking facilities for 500 vehicles.
