Amazing. For the first time in Facebook users are switching their Picture Icon to reflect a theme.

The Paalama.org organization created 60th Anniversary Independence Day Icons clad in the colors of the Sri Lanka Flag.

The Icons are sweeping Facebook.

Could you publish my proposal for ending the turmoil now prevailing in this country.

In my humble opinion it is people oriented unlike other proposals which are party oriented.

We have been made to understand that a democratic government is a GOVERNMENT BY THE PEOPLE, OF THE PEOPLE AND FOR THE PEOPLE.

But now what do we have in our country with the 1978 constitution made by JR for JR and the UNP in the belief that he will be the President for Life.

We have now a govertnment by the PARTY, OF THE PARTY AND FOR THE PARTY.

The party leader becomes the boss and will appoint anyone he/she likes as OUR REPRESENTATIVE though we have not elected him/her as our representative.

This system MUST GO.

We should evolve a system where the people will have the freedom to elect their representative of their own “An Individual” who is answerable to them and not to any political party.

We must strive for a ‘parliament without partisan politics’. with representatives who will sincerely care for the people and not political parties.
